BIRDY "99"

Created (in part) for the July 2021 PIGSquad Summer Slow Jam (...And in part for a boardgame remix friend-jam). The themes this time were 'Remix' and 'Unreliable Narrator'.

BIRDY "99" is an unofficial multiplayer expansion to the tabletop word game  'A Little Wordy'. In the style of 'Tetris 99', 'BIRDY "99"' lets you have a word based battle royale with your friends. To get a good understanding of the original, check out this video:

Rules:

1. Sit in a circle, ensuring that everyone has a player to their left and to their right.
2. Deal 4 of each kind of Clue Card (Vanilla, Spicy, and/or Oops!) and place them in the middle of your playing area, visible to all players.
3. Every player draws 7 Consonant Tiles and 4 Vowel Tiles.
4. Players then pick a Secret Word that they can create out of their set of Letter Tiles, writing this word down on a piece of paper and covering it so others cannot see. This word has no limit on length.
5. When everyone has finished picking their Secret Words, have the whole circle pass their tiles to the player on their left.
6. To determine who goes first, find the last person to have seen a non-bird animal.
7. Players then begin trying to deduce the Secret Word of the player to their right. 
   1. A turn consists of either choosing a Clue Card and gaining that number of Berry Tokens at the top of the card, or trying to guess the Secret Word of the player on their right. If they guess incorrectly, they gain two Berry Tokens. If they guess correctly, the player to their right is eliminated.
   2. If a player is eliminated, they  leave the circle and pass their current Letter Tiles to the player who eliminated them. That player has shifted targets, now trying to guess the Secret Word  of their new rightmost neighbor. 
8. The end game begins when it's narrowed down to two players. When one of these two players correctly guesses their opponents Secret Word, count how many Berry Tokens each remaining player has. If the guesser has less Berry Tokens, they win. If their opponent has less Berry Tokens, they can continue trying to guess the guesser's Secret Word (...Until they no longer have fewer Berry Tokens). 
9. The winner is the player who has guessed their opponent's Secret Word with the fewest  Berry Tokens.

Components:

Letter Tiles. The base game includes a set of these, if more are needed (or if you want to try without the base game), you can use a set of Scrabble tiles interchangeably. (Note: In this game, the Q's are not bundled with the U's. If your tile set has 'Qu's, be sure to adjust as needed)

Berry Tokens. These are used to keep track of points (This game is like golf: lower is better). These can be any kind of counter you have on hand - including berries if you have any laying around.

Clue Cards. These cards have prompts that your opponent has to answer in order to give you more information about their Secret Word. The base game includes two sets of these cards, Vanilla and Spicy. BIRDY "99" includes a new deck, "Oops! No Birds Allowed".

Stuff to Write On. This game involves a lot of sleuthing, having something to take notes on helps a lot! You'll also need something to write (and hide) your Secret Word on as well. This can be the same as your note sheet, just be sure to fold the top over or otherwise obscure your Secret Word.
